Yowza! I keep forgetting to post over here! I'm doing pretty good. :) How's about you all?
----------
Some art I've done of late .... (All thumbnails open to gallery pages at deviantART)
hermione and Ron as My Little Ponies ....

Tom Felton as Draco in The Half-Blood Prince ....

Scene from the Stargate Atlantis episode "The Shrine". (There *will* be a sequel image of Rodney,) Acrylic on 16X20 canvas paper. I'm having Joe sign a copy for this for me, and giving him the original. :D

And now I'm starting on a painting of Kirk & Spick for Dragon, since Nimoy & Shatner will be there. If I have time, I'll do a drawing of Ben Browder.
-------------
I think I will go see Ponyo for my birthday. Try to forget that I'm turning 34 by seeing a movie I'm told is aimed at young children. ;)
-----------
The Very Harry Potter Musical is my new happy place -- if you haven't seen it already, *do*. Do it now! (Warning -- there's some swearing and mature themes -- it's not for kiddies!
------------ ( So it's been a good couple of weeks for celeb twitters for me! *G* ... (more behind the cut) )

Is anyone else looking forward to the release of the third Underworld film? I love Lucian -- it'll be sweet to see him again and get more of his backstory! :D I just hope this one's better than the second film, which paled significantly compared to the first ... -------------------------- I was finally able to go to Disney at night when my aunt & her fam came to visit Saturday -- yay!! We had a blast, despite mom and I both being sick. (Yeah, I woke up sick New Year's Day -- what a way to start the year. Ugh ...) I'd been afraid that I wouldn't get to see Disney at night this season, so lucky break! Took lots of pics, & posted a lot of them at my photo account: http://caniscamera.deviantart.com/gallery/#theme-parks ------------------------- My review of "Indentity": http://www.pinkraygun.com/2009/01/02/stargate-atlantis-identity/

My review of SGA's "The Prodigal": http://www.pinkraygun.com/2008/11/13/stargate-atlantis-the-prodigal/
-----------------------
Re: Twighlight ~ Okay, I've noted that people seem to either love or hate Twilight. For a while there, I had no clue what people were even talking about. After seeing previews of the movie, I decided to give the books a try. I picked it up, but didn't get to start reading until yesterday afternoon.
Well I'm only halfway through the first book, but I like it/have been sucked in -- and I nornmally abhor romance novels. Not that there aren't flaws here & there, but I'm charmed. We'll see if I stay that way by the end. And really, while it sounded girlishly silly when I was told about it initially, now that I've read that much of it, I have no problem with the sparkle-thing. Hell, three characters in one of my novels have sparkly skin! Anyway, now I think it was a neat way to get around the sunlight thing without having it be the usual trope .... Well, maybe it is still girlishly silly. So call me a silly girl. :P
*EDITED TO ADD* Okay, I've finished it. I was a bit disappointed in the end -- sticking with Bella's POV, we basically missed the climax. And the tone of the book changed quite a bit with the tracker scenario -- like the book switched genres. I actually preferred the slower, quieter, non-adventure stuff before it. Also, it's hard to see just why Edward and alllll the guys think Bella is so wonderful, but I hear Midnight Sun helps with that, explaining just what Edward sees in her. And she does get spunkier in the end -- I like her pointing out the flaws in Edward's logic. Really, her arguements are why I've had problems with vampire loves stories in the first place! Also, I do like Edward quite a lot. And I'm intrigued enough to want to keep reading. Is it a work of great literature? No, not even close. In fact, it has a serious lack of jeaopardy at times, as the things that should complicate her life seldom actually *do*. But I still couldn't really put it down. (Hey, I like things like One Tree Hill and 90210, so sue me.) So I'll call it literary candy, a guilty pleasure -- a fluffy and sweet indulgence.
-----------------------
JARVIS (my new -- well, used -- Axim X-5 pocket PC) and I are geting along pretty well, although I had a little trouble figuring out how precisely he works at first -- his version of Windows is much different from any Windows I've ever used, in many ways. He's not so intuitive. He is turning out to be very sensitive to touch, alas, so he may not work out as an MP3-player, as every time his screen gets touched in the wrong spot, when I try to put him in my purse, it pauses the music. XD And he won't play any music I've bought, only sound files from what I've dubbed to MP3 from cassetes. So it looks like I still need to get an MP3 player. And I need to get a foldable keyboard, as typing through the tiny keyboard on the screen is sloooooow. But he has allowed me to work in situations where I wouldn't have been able to before.

I bought a pocket computer off of eBay almost a month ago, and the damn thing didn't work, so I sent it back. They're finally sending me a new one, apparently with some extras for my troubles. Cross your fingers that it works, because this means I will be able to go out to Disney with mum when she goes to work, at least a couple of days a week, to get some excercise (going out around walking around here is NOT SAFE) and still be able to write/do research for articles. :D Now if I could just get a big MP3 player, I could do my episode reviews while out as well! (I'm not sure that the poor little pocket PC could handle streaming video. We'll see ...) Hm. It will need a name. It will be my trusty sidekick/attache .... Arthur? (from The Tick) Alfred? (Batman) Melchior? (the laptop/goblin from the Web Mage series) Plum? (the cute little PDA from Chobits) Ooh, JARVIS!!! (Movie!Iron Man's computer/servant) Yes!!! (Incidentally, this computer I'm on right now is Luke Skywalker. Don't ask.) ___________________________
When I haven't been drowning in the doldrums, I've been happily puttering away on my Whirled. Not entering the contest, but it's allowing me to do what I've wanted to do for years -- build an interactive website that is like a home. :D It's being quasi-modelled after the home of my main character in New Avalon, Selina -- I hope to build other key areas of NA as well, as a sort of online tour.

Tart's servers were down last week as we did some chanovers, but were back, even if we are, by necessity, reviewless this week. :) In particular, I have an article on why you should be watching Startagte Atlantis and a "13 Questions" interview with Ted Naifeh. :)

A quick note of thanks to those who commented in a recent entry -- it's given me a lot to think about ...
-------------------------
I've decided to get back to work on my erotic novel. I'm using weBook in the hopes that it will keep me motivated. I considered joining an online writing community -- I mean like a yahoo group -- but I struggle to find the time to work on all the stuff I want to work on as it is, and don't really want to commit to a group where I'd be expected to give feedback to others as well, ya knoow? Selfish, sure. Still, I know there are people out there who love to read and have good grammar mojo but don't write themselves, so ... yeah, if you're one of them, or don't mind me not reading your work in exchange, be my guest. If you're interested in being a beta reader, you can find the page for it here: http://www.webook.com/project/Universal-Love
Be warned, it's a bi-poly erotica -- yes, there's same-sex pairings and multiple pairings. Also, the characters are quasi-kemonomimi -- in other words, they're humanoid aliens with animalistic attributes. No snouts or anything (well, not yet, maybe later), but some fur, wings, dog- and cat-ears, tails, horns, hooves, nagas, etc.
Also, please don't be offended if you leave feedback and I decide not to heed it. I swear I will consider anything you say, but that doesn't mean I'm obligated to follow through with it, so desu ne? ;)
On a slightly unrelated note, I have an idea I'm considering using weBook to revisit: a group project, an ecyclopedia of living dolls and other enchanted objects in fiction, folk lore, and pop culture. More on that, later. Hopefully.
