New Stargate SG-1 fic, "Date with a World Traveller"
(Links open in a new window.)

Title: Date with a World Traveller
Rating: PG-13
Genres: Angst, Romance (Daniel/Vala, Sam/Jack), Hurt/Comfort, Humor, Friendship (SG-1 with each other).
Summary: Daniel and Vala finally "complete" their "date" -- at Disney World, and with the rest of SG-1 in tow ... In this part, they go to Epcot.
Spoilers: up to "Momento Mori", as well as for assorted attractions at Epcot.
Length: over 10,700 words -- about 23 pages
Notes: Sequel to "Ribs", "Date with a Pirate Princess", and "Date with a Martian Stuntwoman". Why Disney World? Because it's a place I know very well, and I thought they all deserved a break. ;) Note that there will be at least one more installment to this series after this one....

Read the fic here.

I must sheepishly admit that I have never been to Disney World. So I have really enjoyed the in depth descriptions of what the group is seeing and doing. I find it really interesting. Also, I love Daniel's reactions to observing Vala's reactions to everything. I like how Vala and Sam are developing a real friendship, and talking about the problems keeping Sam and Jack from revealing their relationship. The pirate princess theme is wonderful as well, loved the ring Daniel got Vala. Looking forward to reading more.

I'm glad you're enjoying it -- one of the things I've worried about was whether there was enough information for someone who's never been to the resort to follow the story without it sounding like a tourist ad, ya know? :) Thanks for the feedback! I hear that Sam and vala will get to develop their friendship when the series starts up again in April -- I'm really looking forward to that, especially since they'd had a scene together that had gotten cut in an earlier ep!

I don't think I've commented yet, but I LOVE this series you're doing! You showed me a side of Epcot that I never noticed while I was there (though I was always rushed through it, since it always seems to be everyone's least favorite place) and now, ANIMAL KINGDOM?! My absolute favorite! I can't wait!!!

Thankee! I'm all too familiar with Epcot, as that's where my folks best like to go, and since that's where Off Kilter plays (I belong to a fan club, so i meet up with friends there). (My dad's office is at the Disney-MGM Studios, so he refuses to go there -- which bums me out considerably, since that's my fave park...)

Hopefully I wont be too long with the update -- it depends on when I can get to Animal Kingdom again, I'd like to visit the park to refresh my memory and inspire me before I start the next section....

Hey, long time no see! ^_^ I'm glad you're back with your wonderful stories.
And I've been wanting to say I'm impressed with your knowledge of Disneyland! How many times have you been there?
My chances of ever going are, to say the least, slim (since I live in another country and all that) but your descriptions are so well done that I feel like I'm right there, looking at all these wonderful places.
I totally agree with [info]fanfictionfan on this.

Thank you, I'm glad you've been looking forward to it!

My parents work for Disney World (whuich is in FL -- Disneyland is in California. I've never been to Disneyland, but I hope to go someday!), so I go to the parks fairly often -- probably at least once a month, usually four or five times, though we usually just go to Downtown Disney to see a movie and have lunch, or minigolfing on the property, or to Epcot. We go there like other people go to the mall, LOL! Before we moved here, we used to come down on vacation almost every year. I hope you get to see it someday, there really is no place else like it! *HUGS*

Thanks for reading!

I've really enjoyed reading your stories because of the D/V element, but there is another reason. I recently moved to Florida. And I keep getting asked all the time if I've been to any Disney parks yet. The answer has always been no, because the hugeness of it all is a bit intimidating to a small town girl like me. Reading these fics, I'm learning how things work and what to do to spend the day efficiently. It's all seeming a little less scary, now. Did you know you were providing free advertisement to the parks? Thanks.

Heh, I didn't really mean it to be an ad -- kinda figured anyone who wants to go would go at some point if they could without me suggesting it :) I do enjoy giving trivia and tips, though, and pointing out things people might otherwise miss and shouldn't, like Off Kilter ^^

Just bear in mind that crowd traffic, park hours, and show schedules change with the seasons -- what's empty at one time of year (or even one time of *day*) can have an hour wait at another. Also, things are always being closed for remodeling -- it'd probably be a good idea to check sites like allears.net and www.wdwmagic.com before going, to help plan your day.

It's been a long time since I've actually tried to see *every*thing -- we usually just walk around and do whatever suits our fancy -- but I did do my best to make the series fairly plausible time-wise (I even picked up maps and schedules of each park), only stretching things a little here and there I think. Oh, and I should admit I've never actually been on Mission: Space (heart trouble runs in my fam and makes me very wary of it). Anyway, the best time of year to go is generally in Feb, as that's when it's usually the least crowded (though attendance has really been astronomical this past year). Whenever you go, I hope you have fun! :)

Love this series! But now I want to go to Disney again. :D I keep reading about all the spots that I love, going "Ah, man, I love that ride!". Thanks for sharing this. :D
