Stargate SG-1 Fic: The Price
Title: The Price
Rating: PG
Genres: Angst, Romance, Humour, mild Hurt/Comfort.
Summary: What price will SG-1 pay to get the weapon they need to face the Ori?
Spoilers: "The Quest, Part 1" (well, it's inspired by the promo, at any rate)
Length: almost 1800 words -- a little over 4 pages
Notes: This isn't based on the ep at all (as it hasn't even aired yet as of this writing), but rather was inspired by the scenes shown in the promo and the question posed by the promo's narrator... This fic is not related to "Ribs".

Ooooh, I liked it! Very nice! :)

I have a question though. When Daniel was giving Vala CPR, who was helping him? It seemed to me that it should have been Sam, since she's the team medic. Plus, it's nicer to see her trying to help instead of just crying while hanging off Jack's shoulder. (Sorry, I'm a Sam/Dan shipper of old and kinda like the idea that Sam would try and help Daniel save Vala).

Hmm. I see what you mean, I just figured that, since you can't do the breating and the compressionsa at the same time, there wasn't really a *need* for two people ... I mean I've heard of plenty of people who have done CPR alone.

And I figure the rest of them pretty much figured Vala was beyond resucitation anyway, and let Daniel try as a part of the grieving, so they wanted to give him space. More dramatic that way ;)

But you do have a very good point -- thanks for the feedback :)

I also didn't realise Sam was the teammedic! #^^# Jill of all trades, aint she?

LOL, I wondered if I should put a character death warning in the notes, but didn't want people to not read it then (*I* never read fics that say that, LOL) when it's not a *premanent* death, and I also didn't want to spoil it. I will never, ever write a fic where the characters I love die (permanently).

Ok that was adorable. But did you see that spoiler pic [info]whisper99 posted? It's the other way around. Daniel is in Vala's arms! Heh.

And isn't Sam the one who shoulda been giving CPR? Cuz she's the field medic in the group. Heh. Though Daniel was kinda a field medic in training when he assisted Janet. And gah, I'm a Sam/Daniel shipper from way back so no Sam/Jack! Heh.

But I loved Vala and Merlin. And then the end. Heh like he'd really kiss her in front of everyone. *snerk* I did love the bits with Teal'c though.

Cute Wolfie. Will be interesting to see what actually happens. You devil you!

I thought that was just a promo pic in general -- it was for that ep specifically? Well, it was an adorable pic -- he cetainly didn't seem to mind being held. I could always say that pic came later ;)

Yeah, [info]whisper99 pointed ouut the "Sam is the medic" thing too -- I guess I'm not up on my mythology. ^^' I had even considered having her join in, but this just felt better to me, more dramatic for Daniel to do it alone, with the others thinking it was hopeless outright (because of the warning), and give Jack some lovin. (*Wolfie is a Sam/Jack shipper :P)

Yeah, I suppose havinghim kiss her in front of everyone is stretching it a bit. I was playing the "he's so relievedit's like they're the only two people in the room" card, but I guess it didn't come off very well :/

No it's from that ep. Just dunoo which part. But it was in the behind the scenes thing on that ep in the mag. Have u seen the latest Sg-1 mag? Poor Daniel. *hugs him*

Heh, we're both good at that. And mainly I remembered cuz I remember what happened in Solitudes and such. But I do like the dramatic aspect of it.

Well Daniel's done some crazy shit before so it could happen. Hee!

Yeah she writes for all of Titan. She writes for Buffy AND Angel. And the way I got my short stint as a published photog was through her. She saw me taking shots of the 14 below marquee at the James Marsters show and told me I could send em in to add to her article and maybe get paid for it and the rest is history. Heh, got me like five different times being published in both US AND UK editions and the US Yearbook for 2003 I believe it was :) (pics of James, Common Rotation, and Four Star Mary) and then I got my face in Angel by being in the right place at the right time *g*.

Mag is 6.99. So with ship it will probably be like 8. If you were to order it online you'd probably end up having to pay like 5 or so for ship. Just lemme know. :) I hope they have some left. I got two copies myself cuz I want him to sign one when I meet him. And Abbie too if she's there, which I reckon she will be :)

And yep I've been climbing the walls since I saw that pic a few weeks ago! Then I read the article and OMG! Yep I cannot wait for this ep. Gonna have to DVR it cuz I'll be at work. *pout*

*sigh* nah, I better be a good girl and skip it, I splurged enough with the Daniel figure and a few books recently as it is... Thanks for the offer, though! :)

And LUCKYYYYY! Man, wish I coulda sold some of my own pics from 14 Below :( They used one for the 14 Below website for a bit, but all I got outta that was not having to pay for next show I went to. I even asked Laura (the webmistress) about selling them, and she said she didn't think I could without Scott AND James's permission (and since his publicist had promised me an interview but never followed through, I hadn't bothered trying to ask her about that, and his business manager never replied to my interview request emails... I can't even remember if I asked him about selling images, come to think of it ...). Before that, when I had asked Scott (the club's publicist) if I could make one into a shirt, he said I could do one for myself, but that if he ever got wind of me selling any, he'd sue me. *pout* But that's really cool about yours -- which US issues besides the Yearbook? My mom gets the mag a lot, I can go hunting through her issues for them. :)

And LUCKYYYYY again for getting to go to that convention!!! *pout* I hope he goes to Dragon next year (and that I get to go too, since I didn't get to go this year *is still broken-hearted at that*)

Again, late reply...

There may still be back issues of that one available :) I even got MS to sign mine. But wanna laugh? I was trying to tell him that, "I know the writer" during the auto session but cuz I think he was so busy and overwhelmed instead of HEARING me, he wrote in the mag, "I know the writer" and then signed it. So when I met Abbie for breakkie the next day, she signed it, "I know the writer too!" *snerk* Silly MS. Anyways...

That sucks about the photos. Being published is kinda cool. Especially having fallen into it. And I know another writer who writes for different mags and she told me to go thru my con photos and she'll see if any of the mags she writes for needs writeups or pics and I can send em in since I'm already published. So who knows, possibility to be published again! *snerk*

The Yearbook my photo is in is the 2002 edition, page 67 :) It's the pic of Adam, Eric, and Ken. The issues I'm published in:

The first one was UK#34, the marquee and the shot of FSM. The FSM shot is repeated in US#4, May 02. The set of five (Common Ro, James with Adam, James by himself) are published in UK #36, July 02. The set of three (the yearbook photo, a shot of Adam and Eric, and Adam with Darryl Curtis, Editor-In-Chief of Titan) are in another UK edition, I believe #38? I don't have the number on the tear sheet. I need to scan em again :) I'm also in the Angel magazine (my picture with Jonathan Woodward and [info]starchildemt), American Issue #4, May/June 04, pg. 60 :) Hee!

The to-do list scene is from Moebius I, where Jack meets Daniel right outside his office after all of Catherine's things are delivered. Daniel is holding the clipboard checking things off and then he stops to look in his office and is just like, whoa! Cuz it's full. *snerk*

Also I got the Daniel figure myself :) He needs a beretta and a bandanna :)
